NEW FRANKLIN - The 7th annual Missouri chestnut roast fired up chestnuts and other activities in New Franklin.
It's chestnut season, and vendors from all over mid-Missouri showcased their crop.
There were also pecans and black walnuts at the roast, but the chestnut held a special place in the hearts of those who attended.
"The chestnut is really different. It's kind of got more of a sweet potato texture. So it is just real different than other nuts."said Michelle Hall from the MU Agroforestry Research Center.
There were plenty of activities for the kids at the roast, and food for those still hungry after just a handful of nuts.
