MOBERLY - Community members are screaming, not with their mouths but with their pens, for police to stop using tasers.
One local family introduced more than 1,400 signatures to outlaw Tasers in Moberly.
Community members say they are fed up with Moberly police officers' use of Tasers.
Many community members attending were family members of Stanley Harlan. Harlan is the 23-year-old who died after an early morning Tasering by Moberly Police last month.
Police officers and the Harlan family won't comment, saying this is an ongoing investigation.
But the spokesman for the family said members are unhappy. "We are outraged that the Moberly Police Department uses the Taser. Stan was an unarmed man. They've used excessive force in the past on numerous people and the city of Moberly is just tired of all the abuse from the Moberly Police Department."
The group says it simply wants Tasers removed.
One police officer said the Tasers are valuable because they reduce officer injuries from suspects. However, the group opposed to the weapon says it has yet to see the value.
