BELLE - Officers have arrested a Columbia woman for drug possession after making a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Officer Chris Pyle stopped 30-year-old Jessica J. Weidler of Columbia for a traffic violation on Alvarado Avenue near Highway 28. Marshal Chris Heitman and Officer Betty Sickendick also arrived to assist with the investigation.

Belle Police Department Drug Detection K-9 positively alerted on the vehicle and officers found suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Weidler was arrested and a 5-year-old juvenile inside the vehicle was taken under temporary protective custody.

Officers suspected Weidler was under the influence of a controlled substance and charged her for possession of drug paraphernalia, DWI and a traffic citation. She also faces possible felony drug-related and child endangerment charges. The incident is also under investigation by a division of family services.
