COLUMBIA - Test scores are in from this year's Missouri Assessment Program, and most public school students are making annual yearly progress as required by the federal No Child Left Behind law.

It's the second time Field Elementary School failed to make the grade in mathematics and communication arts, although Principal Carol Garman is confident scores will improve.

"The staff here is so committed to making this work for our kids, and it's their work that is showing and reflecting that growth," she said. "It's reflected in the MAP test, but once again we're not to the level that the state requires, but we'll get there."

The test scores are preliminary, so the school may review or repeal those results. Parents of Field Elementary students could have the option of sending them to other schools.
