"The '93 flood was the flood of the century. It was a great flood of a lot of devastation. Everywhere you can see land was water. Everywhere," said Roy Martin, Callaway county resident.

Since the flood of '93, things look a lot different down by the river. Where once there was tiny Cedar city, now there are parks and baseball fields. However, there are still businesses in the flood plain. The Jefferson City Airport and Nick's Family Restaurant inside the airport started to evacuate the building today.

Officials are thankful that the warnings will help give people time to prepare for a flood.

"I think that the flood waters are a little bit more easy to deal with, because we have a good projection as to the time they're coming and what we can do about it," said Steve Rasmussen, Jefferson City administrator.

Rasmussen says by the time the sun goes down Wednesday, everything that could suffer water damage will be moved out of the airport. Depending on the rain in the Missouri basin up north, the flood warnings will last through the weekend.
