SPRINGFIELD - A 44-year-old man is charged with murder in the shaking death of his girlfriend's seven-month-old baby.
Authorities arrested Carl L. Turks in the St. Louis area Friday, a day after Greene County prosecutors filed a second-degree murder charge against him. Police were called to Turks' home Monday because the infant was not breathing. The boy was taken to St. John's Hospital where he died. Police said the cause of death was consistent with shaken-baby syndrome.
