OSAGE BEACH - Medical personnel transported two people to area hospitals after they suffered second and third degree burns from a cooking grease fire.

A man and woman were cooking on the stove around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Park Place Condominiums when a pan of grease caught fire. They tried to bring the burning pan outside and dump it over the balcony, but that caused the fire to intensify and burn their upper bodies.

Both suffered second and third degree burns on over 25 percent of their bodies. Staff for Life transported the woman to MU's Medical Center in Columbia, and a Miller County Ambulance transported the man to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.

The Osage Beach Fire Marshal is doing further investigation into the cause of the fire. The condo unit suffered little to no damage.
