COLUMBIA - The Columbia City Council and the Parks and Recreation Department now provide free Wi-Fi to park-goers at two Columbia parks.
People can play and work at both Stephens Lake Park and Flat Branch Park with access to free wireless internet. Park-goers only need a laptop and the ability to access Wi-Fi. Several park-goers said no one had heard of the new freebie.
"Me and my daughter, we come out to the park a lot, so when she's out here playing in the sandbox I can sit, get on the internet, which I do a lot, and I don't have to wait until she's done two hours later to go home to utilize the internet," said parent Johnny Johnson.
The service is available at select areas in Stephens Lake Park including park shelters, beach areas and the Riechmann Pavilion.
Wi-Fi cards compatible with the 802.11 (x) standard work in both Flat Branch Park and Stephens Lake Park.
