ARROW ROCK - No one ever accused a hog farm of smelling good, especially neighbors.

Members of the workgroup include representatives from industrial hog operations, the Health Department, the Sierra Club, and citizens concerned about air quality where they live.

"We're there all the time because we have nothing else. We have to live there and we have to cope with the odor, and we haven't gotten much relief over the last 12 or 13 years, but that doesn't mean we keep from trying because thats our homes, that's where our family is," said resident Terry Spence.

In the town of Arrow Rock, odor issues are high on resident's list of concerns because a proposed CA-FO may be moving close to town.

"The time you are going to experience the odors the most in the hot humid weather is also the time of our most visitation," said Kathy Borgman, Arrow Rock resident.

Many residents get their livelihood from the tourism, but Dennis Gessling says hog farming is his.

"It's a family operation, a family farm, for my parents, myself, and my wife, and hopefully we'll bring the next generation of my family into it," said Dennis Gessling, hog farmer.
