KOMU's Julie Mercer tells us what impact yesterday's levee break had on the community.

Brunswick usually boasts green trees and clear water as part of its landscape.

But with this week's flooding and levee break, some of that scenery is under water.

The extra water is impacting more than just homes with flood damage.

"My husband works in Marshall and hasn't been able to get to work, it's going to make it short come next payday so we'll just have to scrimp and save a little more," said resident Beverly Wheeler.

Although there wasn't as much flooding as officials expected, some roads still had to be closed because of excessive water.

With the possibility of water flooding homes, officials say people need to be careful.

"As far as I know in the lower line areas, all the gas has been disconnected, but you still gonna have electricity. Be careful because electricity and water do not mix," said Brunswick Mayor Rick Deprenzy.

The river has yet to crest, but officials say it should do so by Friday night.

Senator Kit Bond visited Brunswick this afternoon, to assess damage, and address residents concerns.
