SPRINGFIELD - Former vice presidential candidate John Edwards drew more than 1,000 people to a union-sponsored Labor Day rally in Springfield. Edwards told the audience America has a responsibility to look after its own people, but also to lead in the world. He also talked about the minimum wage, the war in Iraq and a potential nuclear Middle East. The former North Carolina senator was Sen. John Kerry's running mate in the 2004 presidential campaign. Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill also spoke at Monday's rally.
