Missouri's health director has granted an exemption to a law requiring mercury-free vaccines for young children and pregnant women. Health director Margaret Donnelly said she suspended the requirement because of a shortage of swine flu vaccines without a mercury-based preservative. A 2005 law prohibits vaccines containing more than a trace amount of mercury from being given to children younger than 3-years-old or pregnant women, but the law allows the state health director to declare an exemption from the requirement when there is an epidemic or a vaccine shortage.

Womb Replacement

There may be hope for women who are unable to have children. British doctors said they've made progress in making a womb transplant a possibility for women who either are unable to have children or have had to have their uterus removed. The procedure would involve four separate medical procedures that would result in a live birth. If a woman would have this procedure, her birth would have to be a caesarian section. The british doctors say about 50 women have already approached them for the procedure.
