Colt McCoy quieted the crowd early as he led Texas on an eight play, 61-yard drive to get things going for the Longhorns.

The drive included a 31-yard reception from Jordan Shipley, who also capped off the drive with an eight-yard strike from McCoy.

The Longhorns were not finished however, as they came right back with a 10 play, 62-yard drive following a three-and-out by the lackluster Missouri offense. The second Longhorn possession was highlighted by a 17-yard pass to Malcolm Williams, and an 11-yard run by Foswhitt Whittaker, who took it in for the score.

After yet another quick punt by Missouri, Texas marched right down the field again thanks to a pass interference call on the Tiger defense on third down. The Longhorns took advantage of the penalty as Colt McCoy found receiver John Chiles on a fly route for a 34-yard touchdown pass.

Following a Longhorn punt, the Missouri defense handed their momentum over to the offense as Gabbert helped lead the Tigers to their first score of the night. Working their way down the field one play at a time, the Tigers completed an 11-play, 81-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Jared Perry.

The Longhorns quickly rebounded from the Missouri score with a touchdown drive of their own, extending the lead back to 21 points. McCoy threw for 70 yards as part of an 87-yard drive, brought to an end by a 13-yard touchdown throw to Jordan Shipley. The touchdown pass gave Colt McCoy three for the first half.

Deep in their own territory, the Tigers were forced to punt with just 45 seconds remaining in the half. The Longhorns were successful in breaking through the offensive line causing a blocked punt, which was recovered in the endzone by Malcolm Williams to give Texas a 35-7 lead going into halftime.

Following a 39-yard Longhorn field goal to give Texas a 38-7 lead, Missouri starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert was replaced in favor of sophomore Jimmy Costello.

Game notables include 269 passing yards and three touchdowns from Colt McCoy, two of which went to Jordan Shipley. Colt McCoy was taken out after playing three quarters in order to give backup Garrett Gilbert some playing time. Blaine Gabbert finished with 89 yards passing and a touchdown, completing eight of 16 passes before being replaced by backup Jimmy Costello. The Longhorns out gained the Tigers in total yards, 400-172.
