COLUMBIA- The Missouri soccer team claimed the Big 12 regular season championship with a lopsided win over Nebraska.

When the Tigers won their first Big 12 regular season championship, emotions were high, especially for the seniors.

"You know, I was in tears after the game. I've never been this excited. It was huge last year, winning the tournament. But, as you know, going out at home winning the Big 12 conference, it's unbelievable," Missouri goalie Tasha Dittamore said.

And, after 14 years of leading the Tigers, coach Bryan Blitz says this year's senior class has stuck out from the rest.

"You know, they were fortunate to relive last year. I think that was probably the difference. They had a little more experience then some of the other senior classes, playing and consistently winning," said Blitz.

Before conference play, the Tigers struggled with four losses, but Michelle Collins says that wasn't a bad thing.

"You want to peak at the right time, and those last two games we got the final bumps out. And, I think that we peaked at the right time and we couldn't have done it any better," said Collins.

The Tigers go on to play Kansas without losing a conference game this season.
