Car dealerships aren't the only ones affected in this economy, TV stations are as well.
Last week, KOMU announced the upcoming end of local program that has entertained and informed viewers for nearly three decades.
"Pepper and Friends" is scheduled to sign off in September after 27 years.
Dena wrote KOMU to say, "KOMU is an NBC affiliate and many times the only show worth watching on TV is Pepper and Friends. This is a show that kids can watch with their grandparents or depending on the segment, grandparents can watch their grandchildren on Pepper and Friends. Bad decision Channel 8!"
And Anna wrote Your View, "I was watching your show today and heard that sometime in September you will be no longer airing. This news shocked me and my mom. What was the reason for this decision to be made?"
"Well, it's tough to express how difficult this decision was," said KOMU 8 General Manager Marty Siddall. "Paul and James are friends to all of us here at KOMU and we all acknowledge the great job they've done with the show over the years. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we've had to acknowledge that the high cost of producing a show of this sort has kept 'Pepper and Friends' from being profitable over the years. Recognizing the service to the community, the station has, in the past, subsidized the show. But with the economy as it is today that's just no longer possible. So, as we go forward what we really want to do is to celebrate the 27 great years of 'Pepper and Friends' and to continue their spirit of community service."
KOMU has set up a special bulletin board where you can leave your memories or messages to Paul and James.
