He beat former Oklahoma State wrestler Tyrone Lewis with back-to-back wins by decision.  Askren is the second Missouri wrestler to qualify for the Olympics.  The last wrestler Sam Henson won a silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Askren was Missouri's first National Champion in 2006 and repeated the feat in 2007.
