HANNIBAL (AP) - The race to replace Congressman Kenny Hulshof gets under way with a crowded Democratic field. The four Democratic contenders shared a stage Friday in Hannibal as hundreds of party faithful gathered for the annual Missouri Democrat Days. Former House Speaker Steve Gaw made the struggling economy his top issue. House member Judy Baker highlighted health care. Marion County Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode stressed the need to improve roads and bridges. Former state Senator Ken Jacob promoted his 22 years in the Legislature. All the Democrats called for a military exit from Iraq. Hulshof, a Republican, is not seeking re-election in the Ninth District because he is running for governor. Four Republicans also are competing to succeed him.
