COLUMBIA - Construction workers are trying to put the finishing touches on the giant JumboTron screen at Faurot Field in time for the first game of the season this weekend.

The crew of about 15 workers has been building in unpredictable weather since Saturday. But they have to lay bricks, stick on sheet metal and clean up site.

Construction foreman, Kerry Whittle says the workers are getting worn out under the pressure to get the giant television screen finished on time.

"It'll be done enough i think that people won't realize that it's not done. It may be a little bit flashy and stuff but pretty confident we'll have it pretty close. "

But whittle says the sound and light system will be great when it is finished.

"It's just the elite screen of all screens I guess. I think the sound in it. You'll be able to hear it between here and Jeff City. So it should be pretty good."

Tuesday morning, electricians are coming to work on the wiring. Whittle says with all the work being done, the site will be a "madhouse".

The MU Tigers first game of the season starts at 6pm on Saturday.
