MOBERLY - Ameren UE customers are not happy with possible changes in electricity rates.

Wednesday night more than 100 people shared their concerns and at the top of the list was for an increase in electricity rates.

The increase is a small increase but an increase of 18%. That's about 420 million dollars of additional revenue per year. Ameren says increasing rates will help pay for improvements in service its already made and are assisting with higher fuel costs.

But at least one customer does not see it that way. Ameren UE Customer Dawn McCullough said, "I'd like for them to come on my side of town just once. Spend a month on my side of town and tell me where I can make cuts to do your increase."

David Wakeman from Ameran UE stated, "Those improvements have already been made on our system. And our customers are already getting the benefits of those improvements and improved reliability both in our power plants and our distribution center as well."

This case is not yet finalized but the Missouri Public Service Comission has until June to make a final decision.
