ST. LOUIS (AP) - Former U.S. Sen. Jean Carnahan is endorsing the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. Carnahan says she supports the Democratic Illinois senator because she thinks he is the best candidate to unite the country and restore its moral leadership in the world. Carnahan became the first woman to serve as a U.S. senator from Missouri when she took office in 2001. She joins current U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill in endorsing Obama. McCaskill has been campaigning on Obama's behalf. Missouri will join more than 20 other states when it votes in the primary presidential election Feb. 5th.
