JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - It's decision-time for Gov. Jay Nixon. Starting this week, Nixon will be delving into the bills passed this year by the Missouri Legislature and deciding whether to sign or veto them. The Legislature on Friday delivered about 160 bills to Nixon that it passed during the 2009 session. Nixon immediately signed one, which authorized tractor parades on Missouri highways. The governor has until mid-July to make decisions on the rest of the bills or else they automatically become law. The state's proposed $23 billion operating budget will be decided sooner than that, because the fiscal year begins July 1. Nixon says he expects to make decisions on line-item spending vetoes within the next two weeks.
