COLUMBIA - Residents of the Paquin Towers in Columbia are worried about how city budget cuts will affect their housing.
More than 40 residents came to a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the possible loss of recreational programs.
Residents signed a petition and proposed picketing the city's offices.
They also plan to write letters to council members.
Some of the programs residents are worried about losing include fitness walks, arts and crafts, and trips to restaurants and movies.
"If the program goes away, my ability to get out of my apartment to meet my neighbors is curtailed. I lose my community," said Karin Davis, a Paquin Towers resident.
The programs are open to all Columbia residents, regardless if they live in Paquin Towers.
The programs cost the city about $88,000 every year.
