JEFFERSON CITY - Sept. 11 brought a new awareness about America's vulnerability. And one mid-Missouri hospital is preparing itself for any situation.
In the past year, chemical masks and suits, a satellite phone, and four decontamination showers have all been added to the hospital's inventory.
"We may be in central Missouri, but we are a legitimate target for terrorism," said Mike Shirts of Capital Region EMS.
Administrators say the greatest strength of the disaster plan is the new lines of communication with other hospitals and community health organizations.
