Councilman Steve Moore owns Sir Winston's Restaurant and Pub. Right now, his restaurant has both smoking and non-smoking sections.

"A lot of people like to have a smoke or a cigar with their alcoholic beverage in the lounge, and I think that the city of Fulton would have to decide, 'are you going to do like our neighbor to the west did?'"

That neighbor, Columbia, is where restaurant patrons can no longer smoke inside.

"Some people are certainly against it, and there are a lot of people think that's a good idea," said Fulton Mayor Robert Craghead. "I am a smoker of years ago, and so I am probably on the side of the non-smokers at this point, but it's not my program that I am promoting, it's whatever the city of Fulton wants to do."

"Say a man smokes, that he cannot smoke in his own restaurant or tavern, is just a little bit Big Brother," said Fulton resident Louis Steinrauf.

"Her main concern to me was that, if the eight of you vote to do away with smoking, what else would you go for next?" said Councilman Moore.

The council decided to appoint a committee to hear public opinions and concerns before taking any action. Mayor Craghead says he will start putting the committee together this next week, but that the council won't make any permanent decisions for at least six months.
