JEFFERSON CITY - House minority leader Sgt. Paul LeVota said he proposed a ban on political donations by government appointed employees in response to the million dollars that appointees donated to Governor Blunt since he took office in January 2005.

House democrats acknowledge that governors from both parties receive contributions, but expressed a desire to clean up the executive branch after Blunt departs.

"Governor Blunt may not be around next year, and with that said, we believe that these integrity measures are needed no matter who the governor is. No matter who sits on the second floor, these are measures that increase trust in state government," LeVota said.
