COLUMBIA - The Kansas City Chief Ambassadors are in Columbia for a two day charity stint.
The group is at the Hy-Vee on West Broadway for a tailgating party on Friday. They will feature a live radio broadcast to collect food for the Central Missouri Food Bank.
The Kansas City Chief Ambassadors is a group formed in 1989 to promote goodwill in the community and are recognized throughout the NFL for their charity work. According to their website, they are the only group of their kind in NFL. Inductees are picked based on their tenure and willingness to actually participate in events and meetings. Some of the members actually played during the Chiefs only Super Bowl win during the 1969 season.
Friday's event will include several of the members who will be signing autographs. They will also be grilling hot dogs and collecting food and donations for the food bank. Food collection bins are available until Saturday at all Columbia Commerce Bank branches. They start at Hy-Vee from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
