COLUMBIA - The first presidential debate may be over, but both candidates are back to work.

Barack Obama and his vice-presidential running mate Joe Biden held a rally in Greensboro, North Carolina.

John McCain returned to Washington, D.C. to wait on Congress to pass the $700 billion financial bailout plan.

McCain spent the day on the telephone trying to convince Republican Congressional leaders to help pass the plan.

And in last night's debate, Obama and McCain hit on economic views.

The debate stirred feelings in many mid- Missourians. Some said the debate just made them tired of the political hype. But for one person, the debate stirred feelings for a particular candidate.

"McCain is much more of an American. And he came through like that, and he's concerned about America just as much as anyone else, if not more," Columbia resident Soney Igancio said.

The next debate will feature the vice presidential candidates next Thursday in St. Louis.

The next presidential debate will be Oct. 7 in Nashville, Tenn.
