Mid-Missourians received an early morning wake-up call from severe storms pushing through the state.

Numerous Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for several counties in the KOMU viewing region, however, no Tornado Warnings were issued.

Winds gusting up to 60 mph and and large hail were associated with the squall line as it pushed eastward across the state.

The squall line is responsible for causing extensive damage to homes and businesses near Kansas City. Even a few tornadoes were reported in extreme western Missouri and eastern Kansas overnight.

KOMU Meteorologist Eric Aldrich says the storms should taper off over the next few hours.
