JEFFERSON CITY - Two state officials have hinted at a possible run as the GOP nominee for Governor.

Missouri House State Speaker Rod Jetton and State Treasurer Sarah Steelman said they are considering a possible campaign for Governor.

"It's been totally amazing and I'm pretty humbled by the amount of people since four o'clock that have been calling the office and texting me and saying you need to run we're behind you all the way... In one respect I was looking forward to maybe taking a break, but when you have a situation like this and an opportunity to maybe further that service to Missouri in another job, it's something that I'm considering," said Rep. Jetton.

However, yesterday, Steelman said she would not be running for Governor and stated that she had launched her re-election campaign for Treasurer. But today she changed her stance after Blunt's announcement.

These announcments come after Governor Matt Blunt's announcement saying he will not be running for a second term.

The Republican party is scrambling to find a new candidate that will be able to beat Jay Nixon.
