COLUMBIA - Boone County Sheriff's arrested a Sturgeon resident Saturday in connection with a Columbia gas station robbery.

Clayton Suhrbier, 31, was arrested for one court of 2nd degree robbery. His bond has not been set yet and he is in Boone County Jail custody.

The robbery happened around 8 a.m. at a gas station in the 5700 block of St. Charles Road.  Police say a clerk working at the store said Suhrbier did not show a weapon, but did make statements indicating he would harm her if she did not turn over the money in the cash register. He also stole food items from the store.

Police say after Suhrbier left the store, he jumped into a vehicle parked nearby and was seen heading east on St. Charles Road.

A witness said they saw the vehicle enter a neighborhood at a high rate of speed and turn into a street with no exit.  The witness notified deputies of his observations.

Deputies then located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. After interviewing residents in the area, deputies were able to identify Suhrbier and connect him with the vehicle used in the robbery.
