Cole County Sheriff Greg White said this accident happened around 3 p.m. in the 5200 block of Veil Of Tears.

The 11-year-old and his 13-year-old brother were looking for a flashlight when they found a 22-caliber handgun.

They thought it was a toy.

The 13-year-old accidentally shot his brother in the torso.

The 11-year-old was in stable condition when he was taken to the hospital.
