FULTON - Fulton's landfill is almost full, and the city is in the works of building a second one.
Neighbors have mixed feelings about the new trash location.
It won't be long before the current landfill won't have room for more trash.
"The city of Fulton's current landfill has an estimated four to five years left of life before we're going to be full," Fulton City Administrator Bill Johnson said.
So Fulton has teamed up with private company Allied Waste to find a new spot.
The best site so far is one off Highway 54 near State Route H.
"With all the trucks being right there, and that's where they'll come out of. And in the winter there's ice and snow. Anything can happen, and well, I worry about everything," Callaway County Resident Erin Friend said.
Not everyone opposes the idea. One woman said the landfill move will open up real estate possibilities at the old site.
The City Council takes up the dispute next week, possibly putting an end to either Fulton's landfill problems, or the neighbors complaints.
