AUXVASSE - The Auxvasse City Council signed a contract with the Central Missouri Humane Society, saving the lives of stray dogs and cats.

Animals at the Auxvasse Pound used to be euthanized, but now, they will stay for three weeks before being put up for adoption. The Humane Society will handle the adoption process.

Alderman Bob Shockley says he hopes the animals find happy homes.

"They will adopt them out," Shockley said. "They have a lot more traffic of people wanting to adopt an animal, and here in Auxvasse, we don't have that."

If you are interested in adopting any animal in the Auxvasse Shelter, contact the Auxvasse City Hall. Find their contact information under Links and Numbers.
