LAKE OZARK - KOMU obtained the impeachment charges Lake Ozark alderman Susan Drummond brought against Lake Ozark mayor Johnnie Franzeskos.
Alderman Drummond accused Mayor Franzeskos of nine different violations.
Among them, Drummond said the mayor disclosed the identity of an employee involved in a sexual harassment case. Drummond also said Franzeskos instructed the city clerk to change written minutes in a board of aldermen meeting. Additionally, the alderman accused the mayor of manipulating elected officials to vote in a certain way to help advance his personal and professional agenda.
The Mayor called all of the allegations "absolutely untrue." He said the city attorney told Drummond twice she has nothing with which to impeach the mayor.
Alderman Judy Neels said all of the information that has been presented to this point has been "out of the sequence of events." Drummond contends that everything she has done has "followed the law."
"The Mayor has no respect for the city employees - for the city employees, the city workers, or the aldermen," Drummond said. "It's all about him. There's no respect for the citizens or anyone else."
On January 12, Drummond brought to the Lake Ozark board of aldermen a bill of impeachment against mayor Johnnie Franzeskos. In the bill, Alderman Drummond accused the mayor of possible misconduct, oppression, corruption in office and alleged moral turpitude.
But before Drummond could move forward with the impeachment charges, the city informed her that there was nothing in city ordinance on how to impeach an elected official.
At Tuesday's board of aldermen meeting, the board will vote on a resolution. If they pass a resolution, they can set a date for an impeachment hearing.
At that point, the mayor will be able to respond to the impeachment charges.
All of the charges are posted on the links and numbers section of our website.
