SPRINGFIELD - One more Republican challenger emerges in the gubernatorial race, and another Democrat seriously considers a run.

Republican Sarah Steelman announced she will run for governor.  Earlier in the week, she announced her re-election campaign for state treasurer.

On Saturday in the kitchen of her brother's Springfield home, Steelman held a press conference to announce her candidacy and outlined her preliminary platform to make Missouri a better place to live. She said she wants to make college and health insurance more affordable and accessible for families and improve the state economy.

Across the aisle, Democratic Secretary of State Robin Carnahan hinted Friday that she might be considering a run for Governor. Carnahan was planning a re-election campaign for Secretary of State, but with Blunt's announcement, her spokesman said a possible run for governor is not out of the question.

Attorney General Jay Nixon is currently the only person considering a run for the Democratic ticket.
