JEFFERSON CITY - AARP members took the Amtrak across the state from Kansas City to St. Louis to campaign for quality health care.
AARP promotes a non-partisan approach. Its slogan is 'divided we fail'.
The group said it wants people in office who will fight to provide affordable health care to everyone.
"What we're trying to do is convince American voters that we need to unite around candidates, whether they be local, state, or national, who will pledge to reform the health care delivery system in this country," said AARP volunteer Ron Sergent.
The volunteers began their trip in Lee's Summit and stopped in Jefferson City to pick up another group on the way to St. Louis.
