MEXICO - After Monday's vote on Capitol Hill many people have gone back to work, but the economy is still on the minds of many mid-Missourians.
Constituents speaking out against the bailout was just one of the reasons Congress didn't approve the bailout bill.
"Obviously their are economic uncertainties in every corner, whether it's people worried about the values and investments that they have, the values of homes, the values of their investments, their retirement accounts, and large and small business alike are looking to the federal government to provide some leadership," said Congressman Kenny Hulshof's Spokesperson Scott Callicott.
"I am in support of [the bailout bill]," said Mexico car dealer George Huffman. "I hope a deal gets one and I hope that the partisan politics don't play into it, because of what we're going through in this election year right now. I think that's what's happening. They are trying to benefit one side or the other and we just can't have that right now."
Representative Ike Skelton also supported that sentiment when he addressed Congress saying "While I support this particular bill, I urge Congress to continue studying the economic turmoil we are facing and to consider additional legislative solutions to it."
