ASHLAND - An early morning garage fire damaged a model home and destroyed a car inside.

No one was inside but the owner's truck was burned as it was pulled from the garage around 6 a.m.

Officials said they got two calls from neighbors who heard loud pops at about 3 a.m. When fire crews got there, they found flames coming from the garage, where they believe the fire started.

"The fire was contained to the garage area, but there is smoke and heat damage throughout the house," Jim Kinney of the Southern Boone Fire Protection District said. "The house was unoccupied, and it was a display home for one of our local builders I believe."

It took tow crews a little under an hour to get the truck out of the burned garage.

The Columbia Fire Department was called in the help investigate the fire, but they have not yet found the cause.
