COLUMBIA - By the end of tonight's city council meeting, Columbia will have its first Citizen Police Review Board.
The council will narrow down the current 17 candidates to eight, down from the 51 original applicants.
City council members say it is an effort to create better relationships between the community and the police, as well as defend people or police that feel they have been mistreated. Council members say they have yet to set official rules for the board.
