COLUMBIA - April is Random Acts of Kindness month, and one Columbia woman is shocked by what she received.
Bobbie Johnson celebrated her birthday Friday, during the month that promotes one person doing something nice for another in hopes of the trend continuing.
Not only was it Johnson's birthday, but she also she received a random act of kindness in the form of a $5,000 check.
The act came from a woman who gets her hair cut at Johnson's salon. The woman, who remains unnamed, is a breast cancer survivor. She says Johnson was there for emotional and spiritual support. Because of that, she picked Johnson to reward.
Johnson says she's still in shock over what happened.
"Well, I almost passed out and I thought she had to have made a mistake: it has to be a mistake here. So I immediately called her and she said, 'no, that's correct,'" Johnson said.
Now it's Bobbie's turn pass on an act of kindness. She says she plans on several, but has no word yet on exactly what those acts will be.
Whatever they are, she says they'll be pretty nice.
