JEFFERSON CITY (AP) - Investigators from the Attorney General's Office filed the lawsuit Monday accusing Blunt's administration for destroying official emails.

Attorney General Jay Nixon appointed the investigators to look into reports of how Blunt's office tried to destroy backup email files after receiving an open-records request from the Associated Press in October. The suit claims computer technicians refused to destroy the files.

Governor Blunt announced in January that he would not re-run in November's election.  Attorney General Jay Nixon is running for governor.
