BOONE COUNTY - Late Saturday, the Boone County Fire Protection District asked drivers to stay off the roads.
Conditions have not improved much since then. The slippery roads are blamed for many accidents. The department issued a plea for everyone to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. The department recommends this advice if you do have to travel:
- Notify someone where you are going.
- Drive slowly.
- Allow plenty of time.
- Increase following distances.
- Drive defensively.
- If you do get stuck, stay in your car and call for help or wait for help to arrive.
