ST. LOUIS (AP) - The former postmaster in Cadet has been sentenced to a year and a day in prison for illegal drug transactions while on duty. Federal prosecutors say Deborah Jo Eden illegally sold, traded and bought prescription drugs while at work in March. They say she also had methamphetamine in her possession. She was sentenced Friday. Prosecutors say Eden used money from the post office's safe to fund some of the drug transactions. The 51-year-old Bonne Terre resident previously pleaded guilty to one count of misbranding prescription drug. A co-defendant, Peggy Malloy, was sentenced on Oct. 12 to two years of probation for making false statements about the post office's finances.
