COLUMBIA - As commercial passengers wait patiently to get to their planes, private jet owners climb in and get ready for takeoff.

Several private planes were lined up Friday, waiting for their owners to return.Randy Clark said that airport traffic is not really affected by the holidays at Columbia Regional Airport. He says when college kids start showing up with dirty laundry bags, it must be Thanksgiving or Christmas.

"Day to day it changes, some days we will have 2 to 3 airplanes and other days we will have 50 to 60 that come and go," Randy Clark of Central Missouri Aviation said.

Commercial passengers say airports like Columbia Regional are more convenient. "Limited, small, but easy to get through, so time wise it's very easy," passenger Keith Nance said.

"It's a lot easier because they don't need to be here 3 to 4 hours in advance and or in Kansas City or St. Louis so much in advance. They can catch a connecting flight in Memphis," passenger Vicky Vandengerghe said.

Passengers say since this is a smaller airport they feel more safe because of the tighter security. They say it's nice to sit back and relax when they fly.
