COLUMBIA - The race for the White House is heating up in Mid-Missouri.

Monday, the MU campus got a piece of the campaign.  Chelsea Clinton visited MU's Memorial Union to campaign for her mother where she was greeted by a round of applause when she took the stage. Hundreds showed up to let their concerns be known.

"I'm interested in environmental issues, issues of sustainable development, pollution control, pollution mitigation," said attendee Adam Saunders.

Chelsea spoke for about an hour, answering questions from the audience about a variety of topics. Marina Muarrarolli, a Brazillian native was most interested to hear about Clinton's ideas for immigration reform.

"So many immigrants don't know how to speak English. They don't understand English," Muarrarolli said.

Chelsea Clinton said she wants to "get rid of don't-ask-don't-tell so that people can serve openly and honorably in our military," when she addressed questions about her mother's stance on our military and the war.

Clinton urged everyone to visit all the candidate's websites in order to get a better idea of where they stand on the issues.

Democrat John Edwards will be in Jefferson City on Tuesday.
