COLUMBIA - Three children suffered minor injuries from shotgun pellets fired just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday evening in the 700-block of Rogers Street.

According to a release from Columbia Police, officers arrived on the scene to find "approximately 50 teen-aged males and females" running from the north side of Jefferson Junior High School. None of the individuals were willing to provide any information, but officers did find two shotgun shell casings near the scene at 713 Rogers Street.

About 2 hours later, police spoke with a woman who said her two children, under one year and three years of age, were hit by pellets from the shotgun whose casings were found 713 Rogers Street. Since the pellets did not penetrate deep into the tissue, the mother did not seek medical attention.

Just before 12 a.m., another 14-year-old was treated and released from a local hospital suffering from at least five shotgun pellet wounds to her legs.

Police issued a warrent for 16-year-old Durantrae D. Logan on Thursday afternoon for his involvement in this incident. "Trae" Logan was last seen wearing a red shirt on top of a black shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at (573) 875-TIPS. Logan is considered armed and dangerous.
