32-year-old Jeremy Bohannon of Rocheport was shot multiple times at a close range in the head and leg.

The muder took place at the McDonald's parking lot on Clark Lane in East Columbia.

The suspect, 37-year-old William Clinch of Hallsville, was detained and charged with 1st Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action. He now faces an arraignment Wednesday evening in the Boone County Courthouse. The arraignment will begin at 5 p.m. and will be presided over by Judge Jodie C. Asel.

The Columbia Police Department says family members claim the two had a long-standing feud. Police believe Clinch waited for Bohannon to arrive at the restaraunt before shooting him. 

Police also say a witness told them Clinch hid in Bohannon's home in April 2006 and waited for him to arrive because he "intended to kill him." Bohannon did not return home that evening.

Clinch was seen target shooting on Saturday afternoon (the day preceding the murder) using the weapon he later allegedly killed Bohannon with. 

Clinch reportedly chased Bohannon in the parking lot, where several witnesses inside and outside the restaurant saw the incident.

"They were just amazed that it was in fact happening," said Columbia Police Captain Brad Nelson. "Some said they weren't sure it was real, and some said it was just amazing that a man was being pursued on foot being shot at."

Terry Murphy's 15-year-old son works at the McDonald's.

"My son called me around five," Murphy said. "Saying that someone rolled up into the parking lot and started shooting. That he was scared and wanted to come home,"

Police questioned witnesses and McDonald's employees for more than three hours. The restaurant was closed for the night.
