LAKE OF THE OZARKS (AP) - State workers and volunteers will test the coves in the Lake of the Ozarks next week for E-coli.
Nineteen teams of testers will collect samples on Tuesday, to gather data to monitor the lake's environmental health. The Missouri departments of Conservation and Natural Resources are leading the water testing program. Once the samples are collected, they will be turned over to DNR for testing. The testing will begin a five-year program. When it's completed, the testing will have included coves from Bagnell to Truman dams. The lake is generally in good environmental health, and the testing is being called a proactive measure to protect against problems. Ameren UE will pay $15,000 for the tests.
