The Tour of Missouri crossed the finish line last week, but now, the bike race may be finished for good. This was the final year of the tour's three-year contract.
Gov. Jay Nixon and Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder say corporate sponsors need to step up to save the race. Nixon threatened to pull about $1.5 million from the tour's budget this summer, amid budget shortfalls. Only a compromise saved this year's race.
Thousands of supporters cheered on cyclists from around the world during the seven-stage tour earlier this month.

Columbia city workers have installed panels to reduce a big bump where U.S. Highway 63 crossed the Colt Railroad on the city's north side. Drivers could feel the bump whatever speed they were going.
The panels fit against the rails, reducing the big bump.
The fix is only temporary because a new bridge to go over the railroad is under construction nearby. Officials say the new overpass shoud be ready in a little more than one year.
