COLUMBIA - For the second straight year a Mizzou player is the best male athlete in the Big 12 Conference.
The Big 12 named MU quarterback Chase Daniel its Male Athlete of the Year. Former Tiger wrestler Ben Askren was the winner in 2007.
The award is based on a combination of athletics, academics, and citizenship.
The Heisman Trophy finalist led the Tigers to a 12-2 football season, a Big 12 North title, and a Cotton Bowl Championship. The Big 12 Offensive player of the year threw for more than 4,300 yards and 33 touchdowns last season. Daniel is also a First Team Academic All Big 12 pick.
